Concrete blocks, or Concrete masonry unit (CMU) and small precast concrete items are usually factory produced from natural “heavy” aggregates, such as sand, gravel, and cement or other binders.
The use of the Laterlite Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregates (LWA) in the mix design of concrete constituting the elements, makes it possible to obtain lightweight concrete blocks and prefabricated concrete items, with high performances in terms of thermal insulation and inertia, of acoustic insulation and sound absorption, of fire resistance according to the requirements, while keeping an excellent mechanical resistance.
Laterlite has an expertise accumulated in 50 years of history in the manufacture of light concrete masonry blocks in Italy using its Expanded Clay aggregates – see the dedicated site, in Italian. In addition to its own three block manufacturing plants, it has 200 manufacturer clients and a network of partner companies throughout Italy that are members of ANPEL (the National Association of Expanded Clay Element Manufacturers), The experience and know-how of Laterlite are at the service of international partners wishing to develop and manufacture blocks or related products based on expanded clay.
