Laterlite Lightweight structural concretes can be used for casting loadbearing roof slabs (for further information see structural slabs) an beams or to strengthen existing slabs (for further information please refer to the section on slab strengthening).
Because expanded clay is very strong and has a low self-weight, it permits longer structural spans and slimmer cross-sections in new buildings. This gives enhanced design freedom and opportunities for architectural expression.
Loadbearing slabs that incorporate products from the Latermix Beton range can reduce structural loading by up to 40% (this is particularly useful for preventing overloading at the tops of buildings in seismic zones, in refurbished buildings, or in extensions or upper storeys added to buildings) and can reduce thermal bridging.
The excellent mechanical features of Latermix Beton 1600 make it suitable for heavy duty industrial surfaces carrying vehicle traffic, and is ideal for rooftop car parks.
